Client Centered
APPROACH TO PRACTICE
Because every client is different, Adam takes a client-centered approach to treatment and is able to use a variety of techniques including CBT, mindfulness, acceptance, attachment theory and active listening to best serve each individual client and their unique needs.

Couples Counseling
Telehealth Only
Adam has a long-standing passion for couples therapy work. Adam currently works with couples dealing with varying levels of discord in their relationship. Many couples are struggling with disagreements or arguments (either circumstantial or long-term) and are seeking conflict resolution skills, while other couples are looking to deal with communication issues or improve their communication, and some are simply looking for guidance or assistance in navigating life changes together (moving, having kids, jobs, etc.). Regardless of what you're facing in your relationship working with a licensed mental health therapist can provide you and your partner with a safe space to work through your issues or learn skills providing your relationship with a solid foundation to rest on.
Individual Therapy
Telehealth Only
Adam specializes in working with clients dealing with anxiety, depression and/or stress. Through both personal and professional experience, Adam has identified that many of these issues often stem from our deeper struggles with self-esteem, peer relationships, family conflict, communication skills, conflict resolution and/or trauma. Adam works with clients of varying ages and backgrounds, while also taking a special interest in providing a safe space for underrepresented groups such as men, spiritual leaders, those struggling with ADHD and adolescents.

"Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can."
- John Wesley -

Adam found himself in college like most young adults trying to decide what to do with his life. Inspired by the above quote from John Wesley, he asked himself a very important question, "What's the most I can do with the skills I possess?". And after reflecting on his role in so many of his relationships, serving as the listening ear and gentle presence, he knew what his call to action was.
Following his undergraduate studies, Adam went on to earn a Masters in Social Work from Roberts Wesleyan University and a Masters in Theological Studies from Northeastern Seminary. Adam has experience working in both public mental health facilities as well as private practice and prior to his career as a therapist, Adam has experience in church leadership, residential treatment facilities, youth mentorship and various blue collar jobs. Adam believes his diverse background has not only shaped him as a person but also as a therapist by giving him the ability to understand his clients on a personal level and relate to a variety of perspectives and experiences his clients may bring into the office.
Because Adam works with clients who have both been to therapy in the past, as well as clients starting therapy for the very first time, he focuses on building a good rapport with clients from the beginning of the therapeutic relationship. Therapy is hard work but it is important work. Adam feels very grateful to be able to work with so many amazing people and use his experiences (both personally and professionally) to come alongside his clients and help them unpack these issues in a way that hopefully leads to an increased confidence in self, the ability to recognize patterns in one’s life, and developed skills to create and sustain healthy boundaries and habits.
Outside of the office Adam enjoys disc golfing, visiting local coffee shops, breweries and restaurants, cheering for the Buffalo Bills during football season and spending time with his wife and their three kitties.

As a someone who has personally benefited from therapy throughout the course of their life, Courtney finds herself at The Bridge Counseling as both an advocate for mental health services as well as it's Operations Manager.
Courtney brings with her a background in business management and marketing using her skills to run the behind-the-scenes operations of the business and cultivate a client experience that feels like coming home.
When not answering emails and managing the day-to-day of our practice, Courtney enjoys spending time at home with her husband, exploring new places in the Northern Virginia area, a really good iced latte and working on her home-design mood boards.

Thinking about starting therapy?
“We can’t be brave in the big world without at least one small safe space to work through our fears and falls.” - Brene Brown
REASONS TO START THERAPY
NUMBER ONE
YOU FEEL ALONE / LONELY / MISUNDERSTOOD
The single most important skill of being a therapist is the ability to provide people with a safe space to share all the details of their life without fear of judgement or retribution. So many of us walk around this world feeling isolated, even despite being surrounded by others. Sometimes even despite having many people in our lives who love and care about us. Our personal experiences, emotions and thoughts can cause us to struggle with feeling alone, lonely or misunderstood even when we are not. But what is even more challenging is navigating how to explain how we're feeling to other people (if that's something we even feel safe enough to do). This is where having a therapist you can trust changes everything. Not only is the role of a therapists to provide that safe space but a licensed mental health professional also brings to the table valuable skills that can help you navigate the complexities of what you're experiencing and help you work towards creating a life where you feel seen, heard, understood and most importantly... known.
NUMBER TWO
YOU WANT HELP PROCESSING YOUR THOUGHTS
While some of us are external processors and some of us are internal processors the requirement is the same... we must process the things we experience, think and feel in this life. And while introspection and learning how to process things on our own is very important, there are some times in life where having someone to process with you makes all the difference. Whether you're going through a small change that just doesn't feel right or dealing with a huge conflict in your life causing you daily stress, therapy is the perfect place to lay everything out on the table and talk through how you are responding to what's happening to you.
NUMBER THREE
SOMEONE TO NOTICE ASPECTS OF YOUR STORY YOU DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE
When you begin the process of therapy, you're starting a marathon... not a sprint. The therapeutic relationship can take time to unfold as you navigate your own comfort levels, sharing vulnerable aspects of your story. However, once the threshold of vulnerability has been crossed having someone in your life to listen to all the details (good, bad, ugly and in-between) and hold those details safely in their arms allows them to have a unique role in your life; noticing patterns that you or people in your life repeat over and over again, identifying your attachment style and how it impacts your relationship to others, addressing traumas that you may have over-time normalized, noticing unresolved emotions you didn't even recognize you were experiencing, confronting faulty communication techniques that causing barriers in your life and many more... Having someone to work through these unnoticed aspects of your life without judgement is what makes the therapeutic relationship so extremely powerful.
